From: "Tap & Denise Hornor" Hola from =

Hornors August=20
2006
Dear Friends and=20
family, As we take a minute to bring you all =
up-to-date=20
on what has been happening in central Sinaloa, Mexico we are again =
reminded of=20
the important part each and every one of you have in this ministry. =
Thank you=20
for your partnership with us in reaching the lost and edifying the =
saints.=20
"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." Philippians=20
1:3 May=20
News Radames graduated on May 19 from our mission's four-year Bible =
institute and is=20
now a counselor with Jim Gardner's camp ministry for six weeks. =
Pray for=20
Rada and the Lord's will for his life after camp.=20
We=20
were blessed and encouraged by the 17-member team from Tri-City Baptist Church of =
Tempe,=20
AZ, from May 22-31. They were a great help in =
ministry as well as a work team tearing down the old nursery wall=20
and pouring the new floor for what is now our =
youth/multi-purpose=20
room. Jimmy and Sharon =
Watson arrived on May 27 and stayed with us while they looked for a =
house in=20
Guasave. They are all moved in and fairly settled. They left yesterday =
for six=20
weeks in the States, and when they return they will begin in earnest =
serving as=20
pastor of Bethany Baptist Church of=20
Guasave. Pray for them in the coming weeks as =
they=20
travel and get some needed things done while in the States.=20
June =
News We=20
enjoyed the days and weeks with family and friends who attended the =
wedding of=20
Brian and Diana. We had 13 people stay in our house for two =
nights! It=20
was a whirlwind time, but we are thankful to those who came the distance =
to=20
attend. To say that Denise enjoyed her time with Karina would be a great =
understatement! Our rainy season started a few days before the wedding. =
During=20
the reception the wind got quite blustery but, thankfully, no rain. We =
found out=20
later it had rained for an hour in Guasave to the north and Culiacan to =
the=20
south, but the Lord kept us dry! The ladies Bible study was put on hold =
for the=20
month of June, but we are back on schedule now. =
July =
News:=20
The highlight so far has been VBS in Guasave =
from July=20
11-16. We had a total of 80 children come over the five days. Two =
nights=20
the Lord held off the rain until it was over. The children were well =
behaved and=20
paid good attention to the Bible stories and missionary story. Several =
came=20
forward to be saved; we just pray their decisions were =
genuine. July=20
28-29 is a special youth meeting in Navolato that our youth will be =
attending. We=20
praise the Lord for providing a car for Brian. A beloved couple =
from=20
Greenville, SC, donated their car to =
him. =
Work has begun=20
on paving the main street in front of the church and our house (the same =
street). Right now new sewer and water lines are being upgraded before =
the=20
actual paving starts with curbs, sidewalks and a concrete street. What a =
difference this will make! The church will have to =
pay=20
$10,650.00 pesos, or $975 U.S., for the 35.5 meters of frontage along =
the=20
street, or about $27.50 U.S. per meter. Several have made faith =
promises, and we=20
have 10 meters spoken for already.
August =
News We=20
will be having VBS in Alhuey =
from=20
August 1-6. Pray for the teachers as they prepare the stories and for =
the kids=20
to come and hear the Gospel clearly presented. =
Abigail=20
will be starting her first year at Ebenezer =
Bible=20
Institute in Hermosillo. We will miss her, but we are happy she has =
chosen to=20
prepare to serve the Lord full-time after she=20
graduates. Tap and Katie are back =
and forth=20
between Mexico and California having meetings. They have had a few=20
cancellations, but the Lord has filled some of those days with =
last-minute=20
meetings. Their goal is to leave for Hermosillo in January, 2007! Pray =
for their=20
meetings and that the support would come in. Brian just recently sent off the documents, etc., needed to start the =
process for=20
Diana=20
to go to the States as =
his wife.=20
Pray that it would be done in a timely =
manner.=20
Paul =
continues to work=20
hard in NC. He will return to campus on August 11, so his time there is =
quickly=20
coming to an end. We are so thankful and grateful to John Chapman for =
hiring=20
him.
Prayer Requests: 1. =20
Radames =
and future ministry; for an appropiate building or home to =
begin a=20
new church=20
plant in nearby Guamuchil. We foresee working =
towards=20
this with earnest once Radames returns from his summer ministry and =
the=20
Watsons assume more of the pastoral duties in=20
Guasave. 2. =20
Alfredo, faithful member and a policeman from Guasave, broke his =
leg in two=20
places while patrolling on his motorcycle. They added plates =
and=20
screws during his operation, and he is home now. There is an =
internal=20
police dispute whether or not he will receive his normal pay =
while=20
recuperating. Pray for his recovery and the Lord's supplying of =
all=20
the family's needs as He has promised. 3. Vacation Bible=20

The=20
transition for Jimmy Watson and =
family=20
to the full-time ministry in Guasave when they return in =
September;=20
for their ongoing Spanish fluency; for coordination =
between ministry and=20
home schooling; and for wisdom to direct Bethany Baptist Church in=20
Guasave. 5. Wisdom to develop and implement new Sunday School and home=20
discipleship/Christian growth/evangelism=20
programs. 6. =
For=20
Diana's visa to be approved so that she can =
join Brian in=20
South Carolina; a job for Diana once she gets to Greenville,=20
SC. WE WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERY PERSON AND CHURCH FOR =
THEIR=20
ONGOING SUPPORT FOR THIS CHURCH PLANTING MINISTRY IN CENTRAL SINALOA, =
MEXICO.=20
